What’s Vine?  You ask.

It is the new mobile app owned by Twitter that allows you to create 6-second videos and post them in your Twitter feed.

I have to admit, at first I thought, “What can you do/show in 6 seconds?  That’s ridiculous!”

But the more I explore it, the more I see the enormous potential.

First, not only can you share of yourself and your personality which (as we all know) is critical in connecting with consumers, but you can highlight products and even offer services.

So, let’s say you have created a new product and it’s a little complex to explain via text.  You want to create a video, but you don’t want to spend tens of thousands of dollars on production.

Now, you can take your cell phone and shoot a continuous or stop-motion video of how the product works in six seconds.

Then, you can share it not only on Vine itself, but on Twitter and Facebook too.

It’s actually pretty genius since we all know that visual media is most effective in attracting attention on social media.

Other fun and impactful uses include:

  • Announcing a contest sharing printed signs outlining the details
  • Sharing your workspace
  • Highlighting the various ways that your product can be used
  • Introducing your consumers to your staff
  • Going behind the scenes at retail (don’t you wonder where they store all the extra sizes? I know I do!)
